Bruno N. Tomaino
New Hartford
Bruno N. Tomaino, 91, of New Hartford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2012, at the Sitrin Health Care Center. He was born October 11, 1920, in Utica, the son of the late Pasquale and Sarah Sinopoli Tomaino, and was educated in Utica schools. He was married to Palma Sacco and together they had four children. She passed away in 1957. A veteran of WW II, he served with the US Navy aboard the destroyer USS Saufley DD 465, one of the most decorated destroyers of the war. Until his retirement, Mr. Tomaino was a Logistics Officer at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome. He later married Dorothy Supiro and lived in Sarasota, FL, for 25 years. She passed away in 1997. He is survived by three sons and one daughter, Patrick Tomaino and his wife, Joanne, of New Hartford, Jerome Tomaino of Longboat Key, FL, Michael Tomaino of Utica and Rena Rondinelli of Utica; four grandchildren, Patrick Tomaino and his wife, Pamela, of Rome, Jeffrey Tomaino and his fiancee, Blair Wilkinson, of Agawam, MA, Nicole Paternoster of Dunedin, FL, and Regan Rondinelli-Haberek and her husband, Jason, of New Hartford; four great-grandchildren, Amelia, Grace and Dominic Paternoster and Marisa Lauren Tomaino; a sister, Margaret Schepsis of Utica; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jennie Callari and Angeline Frank. Per Bruno's wishes, there will be no calling hours or Mass. There will be a prayer service offered at the Chapel of Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wood Rd., Whitesboro, on Thursday at 10 AM, with Rev. Felix Colosimo officiating. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Mulberry Unit of the Sitrin Health Care Center for all their excellent care and compassion.
