Proud Patriot
WEST WINFIELD - Daniel Perilli, 84, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016, surrounded by his loving family and fiancee.
He was born on September 14, 1931, in Manhattan, NY, the son of John and Helen (Eisenhardt) Perilli. Daniel was a true patriot who served his country in the U.S. Army from 1948-1951. He was a Senior Investigator with the New York State Bureau of Crime Investigation in White Plains until his retirement in 1984.
Surviving are his fiancee, Edith Paterson; sons, Daniel (Kimberly) Perilli, Syracuse, and David (Diane) Perilli, Cortlandt Manor; brothers, John Perilli, CT, and Richard Perilli, VA; grandchildren, Shannon (Matthew), Kristen, Steven, Darren, Jenna, Scott (Andy), Chris and Kurt; and Edith's four children and eight grandchildren who called him Grandpa Dan. He was predeceased by his daughter, Donna Starr; first wife, Eleanor; and second wife, Phyllis.
Dan had a kind and gentle heart. He had a special place in his heart for animals. Dan especially loved his geese and stray cats that he would take care of. He even had a favorite pet goose, Paddy. Dan was fortunate to travel with Edith in recent years to Germany and out west. He enjoyed hiking and riding in the paddle boat with Edith. Dan was a talented carpenter, designing and crafting wooden chandeliers (featured in Colonial Magazine) and birdhouses.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Daniel's funeral service on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Westminster Moriah Olivet Presbyterian Church, where he was a member. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. at Unadilla Forks Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care for the care and compassion shown Daniel during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Daniel's name may be made to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care. Envelopes will be at the service.
