Darwin Laymon Obituary
WEST WINFIELD - Darwin A. Laymon, Sr., 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.
Darwin was born on July 22, 1934, in Cherry Valley, son of Walter and Blanche (Snyder) Laymon; husband to, Patti Drake Laymon; brother to 10 siblings, 5 now deceased.
He worked at Albany VA Hospital, Hiteman Tanney, Remington Arms, as Sexton for the Federated Church of West Winfield, retiring after 30 years from Mount Markham Central School.
He volunteered many years for Girl Scouts and the local Food Bank of West Winfield.
Darwin was a great loving father of 10 children - 8 living and 2 predeceased. Terry (Luana) Steele, Interlaken, NY, Christine Donahue, Salem, SC, Susan (Shawn) Getchell, New Berlin, (d) Darwin (Mindy) Laymon, Jr., West Edmeston, Steven (Karen) Laymon, Hertford, NC; (d) Richard (Colleen) Laymon, Edmeston, Pamela (James) Misch-Harbert, Saint Albans, WV, Bobbi Jo (Randall) Morse Sutherland, Stittville, Patrick Morse, West Winfield, and Jessica Laymon Watson and special friend, Michael Peterson, Oneida. He leaves behind his much loved 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 sons and 1 grandson, Garrett.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., at the Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 365 West Main St., West Winfield, with Pastor Ken McKenzie officiating. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, two hours prior to the service, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
We ask please for your patience when calling to support the Laymon family. We are operating at 33% of our capacity. We can allow up to 10 visitors in at a time. As people exit more can enter. Facial coverings must be worn. Social distancing and contact tracing will be implemented.
