Dorothy Earley Bell 1928 - 2019
POLAND - Dorothy Earley Bell, 90, formerly of State Route 28, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2019 at the Presbyterian Home, New Hartford, where she had been a
patient for the past year and a half.
Mrs. Bell was born on June 16, 1928 in Utica, the only child of the late Frank and Amy (Jones) Earley. She graduated from Poland Central School and married her high school sweetheart, James "Jack" Bell. The ceremony took place on August 18, 1949 in Gravesville and they had two children, Judy and Jack. Dorothy worked at Poland Central School as an Elementary Secretary and retired in July of 1986. Mr. Bell preceded her in death on February 15, 2011.
In her retirement, she enjoyed reading, knitting and sewing. She also relished winters spent in Florida, trips to the casino and watching her grandchildren play sports.
Survivors include her son, James "Jack" Bell and his wife, Sandra, of Poland; five grandchildren, Greg (Michelle) Greiner of Montgomery, Kim Greiner (Dan Melia) of
Chelmsford, MA, Missy (Pat) Powers, Amy (Tom) Haver and Jack (Karie) Bell, all of Poland; and ten great-grandchildren, Erin, Tommy, Patrick, Colin, Alyssa, Inez, Braden, Jackson, Harper and Mona. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Judy Greiner, in 2007.
Funeral services will be held at the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport on Saturday, at 2:00 p.m., with Marianne Victor officiating. Spring interment will take place in Poland
Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are prior to the funeral on Saturday, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Poland Public Library or Poland Cemetery Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
