Mr. Douglas E. Worden, age 53, of Schuyler, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at his home. He was born in Utica, NY, on February 15, 1961, a son of Janice (Becraft) Worden and the late George K. Worden. Doug was raised and educated in Utica, graduating from John F. Kennedy High School. On November 17, 2012, he was united in marriage to the former Sharon L. McCurry. The couple shared in a union filled with love and a strong commitment to each other. Doug began his career with his father at Worden's Electric, their family concern, where he learned the skills to become a Journeyman. He later became a member of the IBEW, Local 43, Electricians Union, working throughout the area on various electrical projects. He had a great passion for motorcycle riding and was happiest when riding his Harley Davidson with his wife and many special friends. Doug was a hard working family oriented man. He lived life and embraced every moment. Surviving are his beloved wife, Sharon; his mother, Janice Worden, of Utica; a daughter, Amanda Nicole Worden, of Utica; three sons, Kristopher Douglas Worden, of Albany, Justin George Worden and Tristan John Worden, both of Utica; several grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dawn and Gary Zegarelli, of Utica, and Jennifer and Richard Halpin, of Rome; his stepchildren and their spouses, Shannon and Jason Barber, and Amber and Riccardo Ravaschio, all of PA, Brittany and Ray Ramos and Ashli R. Moran, all of Utica; and his in-laws, Carl and Rosalie McCurry, and Blaine and Beth McCurry, all of Marcy, and Karen A. Thompson, of Rome. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. In keeping with Doug's wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, 702 Columbia Street, Utica. The family will receive visitors in church, immediately following the Funeral Mass. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adrean Funeral Service, Inc., 700 Rutger Street, Utica, NY 13501.
