Frank E. Soron Newport
Frank E. Soron, 92, formerly of Newport Road, died on March 21, 2013, at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion. Mr. Soron was born on July 11, 1920, in Jefferson, OH, a son of the late Michael and Mary (Swieret) Soron. He received his education in country schools in Schuyler and worked on the family farm from an early age. In 1945, he entered the U.S. Army and served with the Cannon Company 17th Infantry during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946 at the rank of Technician 4th Grade. On May 21, 1949, Frank was united in marriage with the former Minnie M. Klossner at St. Francis de Sales Church, Utica. He was employed as a machinist for 30 years with the former Bendix Corp. in Utica, from where he retired in 1981. Minnie preceded him in death on October 17, 1987. Mr. Soron was a member of St. Johns Church and W.C.V. Post #1524 American Legion, both of Newport. He had resided at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center since September of 2012. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Erhardt and her husband, Peter, of Utica; a granddaughter, Robin DeMarco and her husband, Bo, of Holland Patent; two great-grandchildren, Nathen and Noah DeMarco; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Stanley and Celia Soron and John and Jane Soron, all of Newport, and Alex Soron, of CO; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Anna, Pat, Tony and Walter Bazan. In addition to his wife, Frank was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and Walter Soron; and his granddaughter, Wendy Erhardt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Johns Church, Newport, on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Quy Vo, Pastor, officiating. Interment with military honors will take place later this spring in St. Johns Cemetery, Newport. Calling hours at the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport, are Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The Soron family extends sincere thanks to the 4th Floor Staff at Mohawk Valley Heatlh Care Center for their compassionate care.
