Gilbert Long Obituary
UTICA - Gilbert J. "Gilly" Long, 70, of Utica, passed away June 18, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Gilly was born on May 12, 1946, in Utica, the son of the late Benjamin and Laura (Zientek) Long. He graduated from Utica schools. On July 12, 1980, Gilly married Mary Jane Zyla in St. Joseph-St. Patrick Church, a union of nearly 36 years. He was employed, in maintenance, for the New York State Canal System.
Gilly is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane; son, John Patrick (Ann Brown) Zyla, Utica; brother, Benjamin (May) Long, ND; grandchildren, Gabby, Chloe and Hope, Utica; sisters-in-law, Josephine Carzo, Utica, Helen Robertson, Utica; and several nieces and nephew, including special niece, Lisa and family. He was predeceased by his sister, Sharon Marie Brown; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Mary Zyla.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Myslinski Funeral Home, 470 French Rd., Utica. Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus & Casimir Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances, in Gilly's name, may be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
