Grace R. Candella 1921 - 2016
Beloved Mother and Grandmother
Grace R. Candella, 94, of Marcy, passed away, peacefully, with her loving family by her side, on January 14, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
She was born May 13, 1921 in Utica, the daughter of Anthony and Mary Carlo, and received her education in Utica schools. She married Fred Candella on November 29, 1941, in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Utica. He died November 20, 2000.
Mrs. Candella was involved in the family business, Candella Excavating. She was a member of St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro. Grace, who loved to cook, looked forward to family gatherings and special occasions.
She is survived by her two children, son, Francis (Sonny) and Therese Candella, and daughter, Donna and Scott Wood; grandchildren, Shelleen, Laura and Andy Weimer, Frank, Kerri and David; three great-grandchildren, Ilana, Michael and Joseph Weimer. Also surviving, are her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Florence Candella; sisters-in-law, Rose Vanno and Lucricia Carlo; several nieces and nephews; her second daughter, Michele Romano; and her longtime friend, Rose Paciello. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred; two brothers, Anthony and Dick; sisters, Carrie, Catherine and Anntoinette; sisters-in-law Jessie Cicchelli and Carmella Carlo; and in-laws, Frank and Rose Candella.
Special thanks to Olga, Gilana, and the staff at Eastern Star Home, for the care and compassion shown during her short stay there.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 11:30 a.m., at St. Paul's Church, 16 Park Ave., Whitesboro. The family will greet those in attendance at the conclusion of Mass. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to St. Paul's Church, 16 Park Ave., Whitesboro, NY 13492. Envelopes will be available at the Mass.
Arrangements are in care of Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Whitesboro.

Dear Sonny, Therese and family,
Please accept my condolences for the loss of your mother, Grace. She was such a wonderful Mother,Grandmother and friend to all of us who knew her. May she rest in peace.
