James Broedel Obituary

James E. Broedel 1938 - 2021
HAMILTON - James E. Broedel, known to many as Poppy, 82, of Madison Lane, passed away, peacefully with family by his side, Monday, February 8, 2021, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford.
He was born, December 7, 1938, in Oriskany Falls, NY, a son of Francis, Sr. and Mary Brady Broedel and was a graduate of Oriskany Falls High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jim found his greatest joy in his family. He was known in the Hamilton community for supporting his grandchildren and their peers at sporting events, school plays, dance recitals and more. He was the biggest fan in the crowd. Those who knew Poppy remember him as the man who was always willing to lend a hand with a smile on his face. He always had a love for animals, the Hallmark Channel, WWE wrestling and reading Chicken Soup for the Soul books with his coffee.
Surviving are his children, Mary Broedel, of Utica Jamie Broedel, of Hamilton and Steven Broedel and his wife, Jessica, of Eaton; his beloved grandchildren, Nathan Broedel and partner, Charlie Cook, of Utica and their son, Luca Jayce, Matthew Broedel, of Rochester, Kaylin Broadwell, of Marcy and Mikenna and Mikyla Broedel, of Eaton; sisters-in-law, Dana Broedel, of N. Brookfield and Joan Broedel, of New Hartford; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jake, Bill, Bob and Meg, Frank "Tubby" and Cathie Broedel.
Friends were invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton on Sunday, February 14. All Covid protocols will be implemented.
