James Doti Obituary

James "Jim" Doti, Sr. 1948 - 2017
UTICA - Mr. James "Jim" Doti, Sr., age 69, joined those who went before him when he passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Abraham House with his loving family by his side.
Born in Utica on January 10, 1948, James was the son of the late Joseph C. and Rose (Calabrese) Doti. He attended T.R. Proctor High School. A veteran of the United States Army, Jim honorably served his country state side during the Vietnam Era. On November 4, 1972 he married the former Anne Lovecchio with whom he shared 44 years in a union graced with great love. They honored each other in so many ways.
Jim worked for 25 years at Carparelli Brothers in their Block Plant. He subsequently held a position at Revere Copper & Brass, Inc. for 15 years as a forklift operator retiring in 2014. He was a perfectionist when he performed any job, at work or at home. Jim had a dynamic work ethic and a quiet demeanor. He was non-judgmental and never spoke disparagingly of others. He had friendships that lasted a lifetime and he was an attentive audience to those good guys. They laughed a lot as the years rolled by.
Jim's home was his castle. He had a respect for maintaining it and a plan for every season… and you better mow the lawn right! Jim was a responsible and sensible man. He was so proud of his two sons and the respectful young men they became. In teaching them the values, morals, and traditions of his upbringing, Jim led by example. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church.
Jim was a car enthusiast with a serious hobby, and he loved every moment of it, including socializing with fellow car buffs. He restored a 1955 red and white Chevy Delray to original condition. On Tuesday evenings, Jim drove his Delray to Dave's Diner where area automobile aficionados arrived in droves to show off their wheels. Every July, Jim and Anne attended the Syracuse Nationals classic car show. For them it was like a scene from American Graffiti, a place where he and his wife made the acquaintance of some awesome friends from all along the East coast.
Jim is survived by his wife, Anne; his sons and daughter-in-law, Jim, Jr. and Katie Doti, and John Doti and fiancee Talia Marchese; and his precious "Little Man" who he loved so much, his grandson Lucas James Doti. He also leaves his sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Kim Kallen, Josie and Fran Diana, and Kenneth Sinclair; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially John R. Doti who was "his brother", Pat Clemente, Nick and Gail Demma, and John and Joanne Demma; each of them had a place in his heart; and his friends and neighbors who were a great support. They were blessed with the kindness and generosity of heart that will never be forgotten… and you all know who you are. He was predeceased by his sister, Theresa Sinclair; his niece, Lisa Sinclair; and his in-laws, Constantino "Carl" and Marie (Celia) Lovecchio.
The family is grateful to Dr. Sudershan Dang, Dr. Atul Butala, the nurses and staff of the Regional Cancer Center, the personnel of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. and the Abraham House. In the sequence of his journey, all were as kind and generous as they could be, and for that, they will never be forgotten; and a heartfelt thank you to Rev. Mark Kaminski for his blessings and spiritual guidance.
Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Jim's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Annie, My children and I are very saddened of the news of Jim's passing. As a couple, I always admired the beautiful bond you had together as husband and wife. I hope the happy memories and faith you have keep you strong, and the footprints that Jim has left for your sons to follow keep them as kind and gentle as he was.
