Johanna Cieslak, 75, a lifelong area resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, in the comfort of her home. She was born in Utica on February 11, 1939, the daughter of George and Jemelia (Abraham) Alam, and attended local schools, graduating from U.F.A. On June 22, 1963, she married Eugene Cieslak in St. Louis Gonzaga Church. He died on November 9, 1999. Johanna was employed by Off Track Betting in Whitesboro and a parishioner of St. Louis Gonzaga Church. Her survivors include a daughter and her husband, JoMarie and James Marino, Jr., of Cassville; three sons and their wives, Eugene, III, and Marlene Cieslak, Raymond Cieslak and Jessica Barnard, and George Cieslak and Kristie Schroeder, all of Utica; and sister, Marie Swift, of Utica. Also included are her grandchildren, Raymond, Jr., Robert, James, Gabrielle, Alexandra, Daniele, Adrianna and Hollie. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass, which will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Gonzaga Church. There will be no calling hours. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Arrangements are under the care of the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Ave., Utica. Light a Candle at: www.kowalczykfuneralhomes.com
