Joseph Kulas
Schuyler
Joseph Kulas, 91, formerly of Whitesboro and currently of Schuyler, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at home. He was born in Utica on January 1, 1921, the son of Adam and Teofilia Bonczek Kulas. On September 11, 1948, he married Stella Kilar in Holy Trinity Church, Utica. She passed away on January 16, 2004. He served proudly with the U.S. Navy during WW II. Joe was retired from Broadacres Hospital, where he was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was a member of the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary. His survivors include his three children and their spouses, Christine and Michael Pollastro, of WA, Marianne and Michael McDonnell, of AZ, and John and Sandy Kulas, of Schuyler; and six granddaughters, Lena and her husband, Eliecer Septimo, of CA, Julie Pollastro, of WA, Katie and Maureen McDonnell, of AZ, and Sarah and Jill Kulas, of Schuyler. Also included are his great-granddaughter, Rowan Zillioux; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Moose. He was predeceased by his brother, Stanley, and his six sisters, Mary, Blanche, Helen, Anne, Rose and Stella. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, New Hartford. Those that wish may call on Sunday (today) from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 284 Main Street, New York Mills.
