Josephine M. "Josie" (Salvo) Carcone 1927 - 2018
MARIETTA, GEORGIA/UTICA - Mrs. Josephine M. "Josie" (Salvo) Carcone, age 90, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 in Marietta, Georgia, a glorious day for Josie as she was reunited with her Lord, her beloved daughter, and her husband.
Born in New York City on September 6, 1927, Josephine was the daughter of the late Rosario and Margaret (DeTullio) Salvo. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School and continued her education at MVCC. On April 22, 1950 she married Benedetto "Benny" Carcone with whom she shared 53 years prior to his passing on March 23, 2004. Their children are comforted in knowing they are together, celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary in heaven.
Josie's job and primary passion was being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They benefitted from her love and guidance which knew no bounds. She imparted such loving memories and she will never be forgotten.
A woman of style, grace, and beauty, these virtues allowed her to handle all the difficulties in her life with compassion, dignity, and strength. Her fortitude brought her to the best place she could be, and with a smile on her face, she forged ahead and spoke with wisdom and walked away with lessons learned. She was amazing, confident, and steadfast. She was meticulous in providing a beautiful home and a warm welcome to all. She enjoyed family gatherings, Sunday dinner, and special celebrations, especially Christmas Eve, filled with great food, family, and fun.
A devout woman, Josie prayed the rosary daily for the wellbeing of each of her children, and attended prayer groups to learn the Lord's teachings and parables in the Bible. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish.
Josie held close to her heart the memory of her daughter and firstborn child, Stella Ann Benedetto who passed away on January 15, 2005 at the age of 53. She is survived by her children, Benita and Keith Eisenhut, Russell E. Carcone and Lynn Olivier, and Jodi Carcone and Rick Romero; her grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Kim Benedetto, Brigitt Lavigne, Marco and Nicole Benedetto; Vanessa and Stanley Rejrat, John and Danielle Fanelli, Andrew and Kayla Eisenhut; Kara Carcone and Joseph Argen, Paul and Candice Carcone, Michael Carcone and Claudia Mazzorana; and Benjamin, and Nicholas Dietz; and numerous beloved great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel A. Salvo Sr., Rosario "Russ" and Yvonne Salvo who was a best friend and confidant, Paul R. and Cheryl Salvo, and John Salvo; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, brother-in-law, John Bianco; and lifelong friends, Betty Arcuri and Santina Murine whose company she thoroughly enjoyed over the years.
