Lorraine Rubino Obituary

Lorraine A. Rubino
Utica
Mrs. Lorraine A. (Adrean) Rubino, age 79, of Utica, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012, in the comfort of her home, with her loving family and supportive friends by her side. Lorraine was born in Utica on May 28, 1932, a daughter of the late Louis V. and Cora (Elefante) Adrean. She was raised and educated locally. On May 6, 1961, she married Nicholas A. Rubino. After 13 years of marriage, Nick passed away on February 20, 1975; to that union came the blessings of their two cherished and devoted daughters. Lorraine began her working career with the General Electric Company at their Radio Receiver Plant. Afterward, many would remember her from her position in the meat department at Chicago Market grocery stores. She began a second career at the Utica City School District, retiring after several years of service. Because of her out-going personality, Lorraine made friends wherever she went. Her optimistic outlook, sense of humor, and genuine sincerity were traits she maintained even throughout her lengthy illness. She especially enjoyed her home which was a meeting place where family and friends were welcomed to join in music, laughter and cheerful gatherings. She was a longtime member of the former St. Agnes Church, and she held in her heart a deep and spiritual devotion to St. Jude. Lorraine is survived by her dedicated daughters and son-in-law, Bridget E. Rubino, with whom she shared a home, and Caroline J. and Shawn W. Hughes, of Rome, and children, Delaney and Callahan "Cal" Hughes; her sister, Suzanne Sbarra, of New Hartford; her sister-in-law, Dorothea Adrean, who shared a great devotion to Lorraine; many cherished nieces and nephews, among them three nephews who shared in the joys of the "Webster Avenue homestead", Louis V. Adrean, Thomas L. Adrean, Jr., and Charles J. Adrean; great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, including Dr. Angela Marie Elefante who always remembered Lorraine with much kindness to this very day; in-laws, Joseph and Mimi Rubino; several godchildren; Judy (Furgol) Crouse who she loved as a daughter; as well as fun-loving neighbors and many longtime friends. Lorraine also shared the blessing and friendship of "her Nancy". She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas L. Adrean, Sr.; her sister and brother-in-law, Camille and Thomas Cavallo; and her in-laws, Nicholas Sbarra, Brigida "Bridget" Rubino, Dominick Rubino, and Angeline and Frank Yacco. Bridget and Caroline wish to thank Dr. Bhisham Garg, a true professional and humanitarian, for his compassion, personal attention and genuine guidance for which they will be forever grateful. The family also wishes to acknowledge the staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center and the personnel of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. The gift of the gentle, loving care given by Michele Lupia Ward and Lucy Viti was of the greatest comfort and peace. Visitation will be held Thursday evening (today) from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lorraine's funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday morning at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adrean Funeral Service, Inc., and longtime friend, Nancy L. Eannace. Online tributes at www.AdreanFuneralService.com and www.EannaceFuneralHome.com.
