Louis J. Nobile 1934 - 2016
Man Dedicated To His Family
LITTLE FALLS - Louis J. Nobile, 81, a long time Little Falls resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at the Folts Home, Herkimer, NY, with his devoted family by his side.
He was born May 28, 1934, in Little Falls, the son of the late Antonio and Elizabeth (Urgo) Nobile. Louis was a graduate of Little Falls High School, class of 1953, and furthered his education at Utica School of Commerce, where he earned a degree in Accounting.
Mr. Nobile was a United States Army veteran during the Korean conflict, enlisting on November 15, 1956, and was honorably discharged on November 30, 1962, with the rank of SP2.
On July 25, 1964, Louis was united in marriage to the former Sarah Colwell at St. Mary's Church in Little Falls, NY. The couple shared a blessed union of 51 years until the passing of Sarah on September 7, 2015.
For over 38 years, Louis was employed at the former P & C Grocery Store in Little Falls, where he lastly held the position of manager. He retired in 1996.
A man dedicated to his family, Louis proved himself a loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather, always putting their needs first. An active man, Louis enjoyed bowling and golfing. He enjoyed the times spent with his family, especially playing softball at the P&C picnics.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Lora Nobile, of Mohawk; a brother, David Nobile and wife, Maryanne, of Little Falls; a sister, Patricia Castellano and husband, Joseph, of Florida; his cherished granddaughter, Samantha Nobile, of Mohawk; his precious great-grandson, Ayson Bruce Shipman, of Mohawk; several nieces and nephews, including Chad and Charles Nobile; and several cousins, in-laws and friends.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Theresa in 1927, Barbara in 1936, Richard in 1944, Madeline in 1991, Mary in 1992 and Anthony in 2014.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, New Location, 527 East Albany Street, Herkimer, NY, 866-1500. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday, February 20, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
All memorial contributions may be made to either LBDA (Lewey Body Dementia Association), 912 Killian Road SW, Liburn, GA 30047, American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff on the second floor of the Folts Home for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Louis during his stay.

Too many memories of Louis. He was my first real Boss. My favorite memory was Louis' merchandising of the "Wall of Values" where he always put slow movers so the wall "always looked good".That beats out the the cigarette in the coat pocket memory. RIP Louis.
