M.E. Gallicchio Obituary

M.E. (Carol) Gallicchio
Marcy
M.E. (Carol) Gallicchio, "29 and holding", of Marcy, a devoted and loving Nana to all who knew her, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010, after a lengthy illness, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Mount Carmel, IL, the daughter of the late Walter and Hannah Adams Campbell, and was educated in Mount Carmel schools. She married the love of her life Dan J. Gallicchio in 1967 in Las Vegas, NV. After a loving union of 24 years, he predeceased her in 1991. Along with her husband, Mrs. Gallicchio owned and operated Gallicchio Bowling Supply in Utica and Gallicchio International in Marcy. She was a parishioner of Mt. Mark's Church in North Utica. Carol enjoyed a full and active life tending to her lawn and gardens, and especially cooking and baking for all her grandchildren and Angel Babies (great-granddaughters). Thanks to Barefoot Contessa, cupcakes became a specialty of hers. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Dumas of Syracuse; three grandchildren and their spouses, David and Cindy Hawkes of TN, Dan and Tricia Hawkes of Marcy and Dawn and Jim Cheyne of Marcy; four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kyleigh, Emily and Sydney; a sister, Roberta McKenzie of IL; a brother, Dale Campbell of IL; her special "adoptive" families, the Ferguson's of Utica, the Sergott's of Marcy, the Preuss's of Syracuse and the Keller's of MI; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Rd., Utica/New Hartford, with Rev. Lucian Urbaniak officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday evening from 6-8. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to The Pines at Utica and the entire staff of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center for all their exceptional care and compassion. In memory of Mrs. Gallicchio, kindly consider the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Online condolences to www.bentzfuneralhomes.com

Nana was an amazing woman who has accomplished more in her life time than any of us could have. I was one of the lucky ones to say she was my "nana" too and there won't be a day that I won't hear her say "Chrissie" in the back of my mind. I love you nana!

Jimmy, Dawn and Kylie,
My heartfelt sympathy to you at this time. Nana was a very gracious lady and loved her family. We know one friend she has in heaven and they can talk about the kids and keep watch over the rest of us. If there is anything you need let me know

Dan, Trisha and Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Nana was a very gracious lady and will be sadly missed by her family and extended families. I know one friend that she has in heaven!! They can talk about the kids together and watch over us all.

She was a wonderful lady. We all enjoyed her visits to our office. She
had a passion for life.
Loved listening to her talk about
her "Danny", her grandchildren, great
grandchildren, cooking for Christmas and her lawn.
