Michael Capparelli Obituary

Michael John Capparelli, Jr. 1937 - 2021
ROME - Michael John Capparelli, Jr., age 84, of Rome, NY, passed away at home on June 4, 2021 with his loving family by his side.
Mike was born to Michael John Capparelli, Sr. and Mae Elizabeth Capparelli on February 14, 1937, in Canastota, NY. When he was 13, his family relocated to Rome, NY.
Mike was educated locally and graduated from Rome Free Academy. He was unable to attend his high school graduation ceremony however, as he was in Parris Island, South Carolina, at the United States Marine Corps Boot Camp at the of age 17. Serving his country as a Marine was one of Mike's proudest accomplishments.
Mike returned home and enrolled in Utica College of Syracuse University graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in physics. It was during his time at Utica College that he met his eventual bride-to-be, Patricia Ann Kolwaite. He later attended Syracuse University earning a Master's Degree in business administration.
Mike spent most of his professional career working at General Electric Company, Utica. He enjoyed a long and successful career there proudly working as a Program Manager for the US Navy E-2C Surveillance Radar Team. He retired from GE in 1993.
He was an avid fitness enthusiast and regularly worked out, continuing through his 84th year.
Mike is survived by his wife, Patricia, of 62 years. Together they raised four children that they are extremely proud of, Michael, III and wife, Trish, of Sykesville, MD, Steven and wife, Brenda, of Rome, NY, Brian, of Rome, NY and Cindy Capparelli and husband, Jonn Parker, of Portland, OR. They also have two cherished grandchildren, Kelsey Ann (Jon) Diehl and Michael, IV. Mike is also survived by a sister-in-law, Alice Olejnik; and loyal friend and fellow Marine, John (Butch) Cordsen and wife, Arlene. Mike also leaves behind his faithful, furry companion and good friend, Jasper the Chihuahua.
Mike was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Joseph; and another faithful, furry companion, Harley the Chihuahua, with whom he requested to be interred.
Mike was a devoted son, loving father and loyal friend. His love of God, his family, his friends and his country were unparalleled. The world will be a lesser place without Mike in it. In his passing, we have all lost a staunch advocate of the traditions and values upon which this country was founded.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 12th, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome, with the Rev. Paul Angelicchio officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mike's name to your favorite animal charity.

Please accept our deepest condolences, Patricia and family on Mike’s passing. My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Mike at GE/AESD. He was an important part of the Programs team not only in his managerial and engineering contributions but the personality he brought to the office. His wonderful sense of humor, dry wit, along with genuine concern for others will be remembered well by those of us who worked with him. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

My Sincere Condolences Pat and your family on Mikes passing and God's Speed on his new Adventures.
I worked with Mike for 30 of my 35 years at GE/Lockheed and enjoyed his Leadership and Guidance even when we didn't Agree.
I will miss our lunches together. God Bless

I never had the honor of meeting this fine man, however I know he was someone very special as his Daughter in Law loved and admired him and was so proud to call him dad. If she loved him so deeply I know he was a good man and a very special person. May his memory be a blessing.
