WHITESBORO - Michael P. Ferguson, 55, a lifelong area resident, passed away, with his loving family by his side, on Thursday, April 21, 2016.
He was born in New Hartford on November 26, 1960, the son of Roger and Patricia Saunders Ferguson, and attended local schools, graduating from U.F.A. with the class of 1978, and went on to attend Alfred State University receiving an Associate's Degree. On June 5, 1982, he was united in marriage to Gail Lawton in Annunciation Church, Clark Mills. Michael was employed as a Diesel Mechanic with the Gorman Group of Amsterdam, NY. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting, a member of the New York Mills Fish & Game Club and was a fan of NASCAR racing.
His survivors include his beloved wife, Gail Ferguson; a son, Michael Ferguson, and his daughter, Marni Ferguson, all of Whitesboro; his parents, Roger and Patricia Ferguson, of Rome; two brothers and a sister, Patrick Ferguson, of Utica, Christopher and his wife, Sarah Ferguson, of Rome, and Karen and Fred Lomonto, of Whitesboro; a sister-in-law, Laurie and her husband, Al Radell; as well as his godsons, Justin Radell and James Ferguson. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and best friend, Tommy Johns.
Michael's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to his friend, Doug Slawson, Hospice & Palliative Care, the Gorman Group, and Dr. Manzurul Sikder for all of their care and assistance through this difficult time.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services which will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 284 Main St., New York Mills. Those that wish may call on Sunday (today) from 2-5 p.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
