Michael A. Galligano, Jr.
Utica
Mr. Michael A. Galligano, Jr., age 72, of Utica, passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at the Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare Center with his family by his side. Born in Rome, NY, on January 31, 1937, Michael was the son of the late Michael and Elena (Coviello) Galligano. Raised and educated in Rome, he was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country and was stationed in Germany and France. On October 27, 1962, he married the former Gloria A. Tricca. Michael retired from the Griffiss Air Force Base where he worked in the computer operations branch. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Michael is survived by his wife, Gloria; his daughter, Cathy A. Galligano of Utica; and his son, Michael J. Galligano, Sr., and Gina Putrello of New Hartford. He cherished the memory of his beloved daughter, Sandra Galligano, who passed away on February 12, 1999. In addition, he leaves his grandsons, Michael J. Galligano, Jr., and Airman First Class Angelo M. Donato; his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and in-laws, Anna Tricca, Rose and Paul Ambroze, Angelo and Ann Tricca, and Tony Tricca and Geri Bardeaux. He also leaves his lifelong friend, Phil DeSimone, and his close friends, Ed Hage, Jim Montrose, Enzio Cancilla, and Frank Raspante. He was predeceased by his brother, Vito A. Galligano, and a special friend, Dino Mastrangelo. The family wishes to thank Dr. Timothy LaFont and Dr. Sultana Razia, and the team of doctors, nurses, and staff of the Critical Care Unit at the Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare Center for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held Thursday (today) from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Michaels funeral service will commence on Friday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
