Robert Tyksinski Obituary
CLINTON - Robert S. Tyksinski, avid fisherman and antiques dealer, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2017, with his wife, Deborah, and daughter, Sheila, by his side.
Robert (known as Tyk) was born to Stanley and Casmira Radziejewicz Tyksinski on June 3, 1942, in Rome, NY. Always precocious as a child, he was accelerated several grades in elementary school and completed his freshman year at Syracuse University before joining the Air Force during the Vietnam war.
After the service, Bob and Betty Gilmore were wed, producing his beloved child, Sheila Gordon. They enjoyed many years of camping and fishing in the Adirondacks, and Bob became an accomplished gardener and golfer. In 1994, Bob wed Deborah Jones, with whom he shared his passion for nature, wine-making, fishing and collecting antiques.
Bob worked as a laboratory technician at St. Luke's Hospital, sold sporting equipment for several years and then worked as a supervisor at ConMed and Abelove's Laundry. He later spent over 20 years as an antiques dealer, most notably at The Depot Antique Gallery in Bouckville, NY.
In addition to his wife, Deborah, and his daughter, Sheila (Guy), Bob leaves behind his granddaughter, Marybeth; sister, Kathy Hamilton (Phillip); brothers, Michael (Rosemary) and John (Christine); as well as the Jones siblings-in-law, Cynthia (Oliver), R. Scott (Dianne), and Lorne and his nieces, Allie, Olivia, Isabel and Eleanor. He will be missed by his companions, Pepper and Tanner, and close friends, Susan Jones, Anne and Denis Hartman, and his surrogate parents, Jimmy and Laurice Moses. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Casmira, and his brother, James.
A memorial celebration will be held this fall at Bob's home Clinton, NY.
Those wishing to remember Bob are encouraged to toast him with their favorite adult beverage and perhaps contribute to his favorite organization, Hope House, 130 Eagle St., Utica, NY 13501.
