Mr. Rocco J. Roc Cornacchia, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 with the love and support of his family by his side at the Halifax Health Hospice Center of Volusia & Flagler Counties in Florida. Born in Utica on January 8, 1921, Rocco was the son of the late Dominick and Rachel (Morra) Cornacchia. He was raised and educated locally and attended UFA High School. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he honorably served his country from 1942-1945 during World War II. Later in his 50 year career he managed numerous major construction projects for area contractors building schools, colleges and hospitals. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the U.S. Navy Reserve, American Legion, Moose Lodge, and Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) where he served as a cook, the Deltona Community Center in Florida, the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local #2, and the Italian American Heritage Club. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church in Utica and Our Lady of the Lakes in Deltona, FL. Roc is survived by his children, Rachel and Bernie Freytag, Jr., Chester and Dyana Cornacchia, Carol and Michael Cragnolin, Rocco Jr. and Bernadine Cornacchia, and Michael and Jackie Cornacchia; grandchildren, Christine Honsinger, Michael Cragnolin Jr., Bernie Freytag III, Anthony Cornacchia, Lisa Johanson, Amy Cornacchia, Brian Cornacchia, Renee Cragnolin, Frank Cornacchia, Joseph Cornacchia, James Cornacchia, Brenda Salzano, Rocco Cornacchia III, Christopher Cragnolin, Matthew Cornacchia and Natalie Cornacchia; great-grandchildren, Nelson, Alisa, Anthony, Joseph, Michael, Jacob, Austin, Micaela, Alexandra, Mckenzie, Autumn, Jadyn, Salvatore, Giovanni, Vincenzo and another to be born in days, Sebastian Joseph. Pane, Antonetta Cornacchia and Antoinette Herndon; and his brothers, Chester Cornacchia, Frank Cornacchia and Joseph Cornacchia.
