I was dumbfounded when , by chance, I came across the obituary notice for Ronald on my computer. Ronald`s mother, Bessie, and my mother ,Dena ( Georgina ) were sisters. When Auntie Bessie was diagnosed with a brain tumour and was dying, my mother was sent by my Granny to visit her sister. It must have been a daunting experience for a young woman - who had never been abroad - to travel alone to the other end of the world and on such a sad occasion. My mother had returned home before Auntie Bessie died. My mother and I visited Ronald and his wife in Newport in 1975 when I met his children. Ronald and I kept in touch. He came to stay with me at the beginning of the 21st century and as recently as March of this year he replied to an e.mail which I had sent to him. I was so sorry to learn of his death. I`m sure he will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.

Dear Family,
Your cherished Dad, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather was a wonderful, kind, caring man. I had the good fortune to have worked for him as a student at the Albany College of Pharmacy in the Adult Learning and Continuing Education Department. I kept in touch with him for many years. We shared many laughs, tears and lots of hard work and he left an indelible mark on me and taught me many life lessons. (He also helped me tremendously with Pharm Calc!) He always had time to talk. My heart breaks that he is gone, but the world is a much better place because So many of us had Ron in our lives. God speed, Ron. And my deepest sympathy to his loving family.

I have many fond memories of Ron, I graduated from ACP in 1987, I lived in an apartment next door to Ron while in my 3rd and 4th years. My cat and I would come over for visits and hot chocolate. We exchanged Christmas cards and letters over the years, he always showed interest in my family and my career path. He was a wonderful person.

I graduated from ACP in 1992. I graduated from Whitesboro in 1987. I never knew he was a fellow central New Yorker. Ron was one of the nicest and gentle people I ever met. My full condolences and prayers go out to his family.

Ron was a top shelf individual. As a student at ACP in the early 80's, he was extraordinarily helpful, and always interested in the students' best interest. I will always remember his willingness to help, and his eternal positive demeanor.
It is obvious that he was just as wonderful as a contributor in his community.

Your father was an amazing person that I had the pleasure of knowing as a student at Albany College of Pharmacy. He was always professional, bright, and dedicated. Without his guidance and support, I would not be the professional I am today. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy lives on with his beautiful family and the many lives he touched over the years. With deepest sympathy,

Dear McLean Family,
As an alumnus and now faculty member at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences I have fond memories of Ron and his incredible personality. I was completing my post-graduate work when he retired and while the College missed him I was impressed by his ability to explore his new love of watercolor painting. I wish you all the best and God Bless.

My thoughts and prayers to your family. He was a great man. He worked at Kinderhook Pharmacy for a time. I delivered newspapers that I picked up at the pharmacy. We chatted often and he was the person primarily responsible for my attending Albany College of Pharmacy. He asked questions and sparked my interest. My career that has followed has been wonderful and enjoyable. Great big thank you to him.

So sorry to hear about Doc's passing. My father and mother were great friend of he and Helen and through that friendship I was hired in his Newport pharmacy to open on Sunday mornings and fold newspapers. I ended up working in his store from 8th grade until my freshman year at college. When my father left home on a sabbatical in Pennsylvania when I was 15, Doc became my mentor, checking on my grades and my welfare and helping me get through Chemistry at West Canada Valley and Mr. K. I've told many a wonderful story of my time with him and will always remember his wonderful humor, intelligence, and deep friendship. Gob Bless Doc McLean and the whole McLean family. With great affection, Marty Lindenmayer
