Rose Orsino Obituary

Mrs. Rose (Fanelli) Orsino
Utica
Mrs. Rose (Fanelli) Orsino, age 91, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at St. Lukes Hospital, with her loving family at her side. She was born on December 1, 1917, in Utica, a daughter of the late Michael and Carmella Motto Fanelli, and was educated in local schools. On May 24, 1941, she was married to Patrick Orsino in St. Anthony of Padua Church, a blessed union of 29 years until his passing on April 16, 1970. Rose was employed by the N.D. Peters Concrete Co. as the office secretary, for several years, until her retirement. She was a member of the Christ Child Society, a dedicated volunteer at St. Elizabeth Medical Ctr., and a parishioner of the former Blessed Sacrament Church. Rose had a passion for art, particularly water color paintings, which she so often painted. She was a loving, dedicated and hardworking mother and grandmother whose life was completely centered around her family. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and James Miller of VA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sandra Orsino of Utica, and Richard and Barbara Orsino of Webster, NY; her beloved grandchildren, Andrea and John Kim, Alexandra Miller, Victoria Miller, Katherine and Hanna Orsino; one great-grandson, Alexander Kim; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Patrick Orsino; two sisters, Antoinette DiPierro and Evelyn Albano; two brothers, George and Rocco Fanelli; her niece, Mildred Schafer and her nephew, George Fanelli. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc., 1122 Culver Ave., and at 9:30 a.m. in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, from 6-9 p.m., at the funeral home. The family is especially grateful for the loving care provided by St. Josephs Nursing Home, over the past four years. They are also appreciative of Dr. Dilip Kahare and the 4th floor staff at St. Lukes Hospital for their tremendous support. Donations may be made to St. Josephs Nursing Home, in memory of Rose. Envelopes will be available. Online message of sympathy www.scalaroefaro.com
