Sarah J. Abraham
Utica
Sarah J. Abraham, age 85, of Utica, passed away following a brief illness on December 22, 2010 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Born in Pottsville, PA, on October 22, 1925, Sarah was the daughter of the late Tony and Freida (Naum) Ferris. She was raised in Pottsville and moved to Utica when she was 16, and graduated from T.R. Proctor High School. On April 14, 1956, Sarah was joined in marriage with Anthony Mitch Abraham with whom she shared a union of almost 45 years. Mitch passed away on January 31, 2001. Sarah was employed at Wolfe News Service for over 50 years. She was a longtime member of the St. Louis of Gonzaga Church, and a founder of its St. Marys Guild, where she held many offices. Sarah was an active and valued communicant of the St. Louis of Gonzaga Church, where she volunteered for its many functions and prepared the weekly church bulletin for many years. She was a member of the National Apostolate of Maronites and the St. Josephs Society. She was previously an active member of the United Ostomy Association, and a volunteer with the Greater Utica Food Bank. Mrs. Abraham is survived by her 5 children, Antoinette Toni Rosinski of Yorkville, Michele Abraham of Martinez, CA, Kathleen Abraham of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Michael Abraham and his wife, Jan, of Utica, and Suzanne and her husband Gary Sinden of Lexington, SC; and her 3 cherished grandchildren, Angela Rosinski and fianc Nicholas Franki, Amanda Rosinski, and Anastasja Ana Abraham. She is also survived by 1 sister, Josephine Johnson, and 2 brothers, Edward of Utica, and Anthony of Syracuse; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Angeline DiObilda, and her 3 brothers, Leo, Frank, and George Ferris. The family offers its sincere thanks to Sarahs pastor, Chorbishop John D. Faris and the Rev. Bassam M. Saade for the spiritual guidance and friendship given to her over the years. The family also wishes to extend thanks to the staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Unit 3A for the loving care that they provided. Visitation will be held on Sunday (today) from 2:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. The members of the St. Mary's Guild will assemble for ritualistic services at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Prayer of Incense will be offered at 4:30 p.m. By family request, in lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Sarahs honor to the St. Louis of Gonzaga Church, the American Cancer Society, or the American Diabetes Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mrs. Abrahams funeral service will commence on Monday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Louis of Gonzaga Church where the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by Chorbishop John D.
