EARLVILLE - Ted (Gump) Barker, 75, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY, from complications of a massive heart attack on November 11, 2018.
Ted was born on February 25, 1943, in Earlville, to Harold T. and Jane Dungey Barker. He was a graduate of Earlville High School and attended MVCC in Utica for a short time. Ted worked as a draftsman at T.A.C.O., Sherburne; Matthew Brothers, Delhi; GLA, Norwich; Gray, Syracuse; Town of Sherburne Highway Dept.; and as a NYS Fire Instructor. He married Priscilla Stanton in Earlville on May 30, 1986.

He was Fireman of the Year in 1990 and had also been honored as Fireman of the Year in Madison and Chenango Counties. He was also a member and President of the Earlville Conservation Club.
Ted was known for always meeting someone he knew, be it in the grocery store, the middle of O'Hare Airport in Chicago, or at a restaurant near Cape Cod, MA. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, golfing and shooting trap. His favorite times were playing basketball and kickball with his twin granddaughters. He also enjoyed drinking coffee with friends and relatives and last, but not least, mowing his lawn.
Ted is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Priscilla; four daughters, Alexia (Brian) McIntyre, of Swan Point, MD, Susan (Joe) Markiewicz, of Earlville, Michele Barker-Miller, of Bouckville, and Theresa Barker, of Wilmington, DE; six grandchildren, Alex (Ashley) McIntyre, Evan (Christina Scott) McIntyre, Brian Miller, Michael Barker, and twin granddaughters, Samantha and Amanda Markiewicz; two great-grandsons; a sister, Evalena (Jim) Marshall, of Georgetown; two brothers, Ralph Barker and Gary (Lugene) Barker, of Earlville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and three aunts, Irene Boos, Faith Clark and Betty Dungey.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 24, 2018, at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville.
