Thomas Mazzatti Obituary

Thomas Anthony Mazzatti 1932 - 2018
ALBANY - Mr. Thomas Anthony Mazzatti, 86, a lifelong Utican, passed away with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Albany Medical Center.
Tom was born in Utica on May 24, 1932, a son of the late Joseph A. and Minnie (Mazza) Mazzatti. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School, Class of 1950. He proudly served our country in the US Army, during the Korean War.
On April 16, 1955, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Tom married the former Domenica "Mamie" Speciale. They have shared a marriage of total devotion to one and other for over 63 years.
For over 42 years, Tom was an employee of Abelove's Laundry and retired in 1994. He later worked at Chanatry's Market for several years.
Always community minded and devoted to his church, he was a longtime member of the Knights of St. John Auxiliary 385, the Holy Name Society, the Sons of Italy Lodge, where he was bingo chairman for many years and the Tau Phi Zeta Fraternity. Tom was also a lifelong die-hard NY Yankee fan.
A true gentleman in every sense, Tom was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Mamie; four children, Mary Ann Roberts and her husband, Tim, of Albany, Lorraine Mayhew and her husband, Nick, of Whitesboro, Philip Mazzatti and his wife, Michelle, of Southington, CT and Anthony Mazzatti and his wife, Aimee, of Johnson City; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Annie DiSpirito; brother, Joseph Mazzatti; sister-in-law, Geraldine Mazzatti; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by an infant son, Thomas; and two brothers, Gus and Nicholas Mazzatti.
His funeral, with Military Honors, will be held on Saturday, at 10 a.m., from the Matt Funeral Home and at 11 a.m., at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday (today), from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica. The Knights of St. John will meet for ritualistic services on Friday evening, during calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, and in Tom's memory, please consider donations to michaeljfox.org for Parkinson's research. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mamie,
I;m saddened to read of Tom's passing. The obituary says it all. Tom was a true friend who was always counted to assist and help in any way. He was inducted into Army service at the same time as I. I remember when you and Tom joined me in organizing a 50th anniversary of the guys from Utica that were also inducted at the same time.
And Mamie, I often think of our days at Mary St. school.
May Tom rest in peace.
