William Gouse Obituary

William "Bill" Gouse 1940 - 2016
Devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather
NEW HARTFORD - William "Bill" Gouse, 76, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016, with his family by his side in the comfort of his own home.
Bill was born on April 26, 1940, in Utica, the son of the late William and Florence (Taraska) Gouse. He was a graduate of New York Mills High School. In 1976, Bill married Joyce VanSickle in Holland Patent, a blessed union of 40 years. He was employed with A&P, Univac and Kelsey Hayes prior to retiring after 27 years with Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center.
Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed boating and camping with his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years. Bill's biggest joy was teasing his grandchildren and giving them $1 each time he saw them, which added up over the years.
Surviving besides his beloved wife, Joyce, are his loving canine companion, Pierre; children, William (Stephany) Gouse, Arizona, Rick (Bridgette) Gouse, Florida, Clyde (Sandy) Bicking, Westmoreland, and Lisa (Daryl) Crouch, Deerfield; grandchildren, Jenna Smith, Sierra and Ian Crouch, Cassie and Andrew Bicking and Tyler Gouse; brother, Robert (Pamela) Gouse, Arizona; brother-in-law, Ron (Betty) VanSickle, North Carolina; and nephew, Shawn Gouse. Bill is also survived by his special friends, James Porter and Ann. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Sara and James VanSickle.
Remembrances in Bill's name may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sikder and his nurses and staff, especially Patty, Dr. John and his nurses and staff along with the Oncology Unit at Slocum Dickson and the nurses at Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., especially Hillary.
In keeping with Bill's wishes, relatives and friends are invited to gather at his home on Wednesday from 4:00-6:30 p.m. to visit with family, share stories and celebrate his life.
Arrangements are under the direction of Myslinski Funeral Home, 470 French Rd., Utica.

My brother-in-law Bill was certainly one of a kind! Given just a few weeks to live a year and a half ago he said no and fought to his last breath. He loved Ell Caminos and loved to talk about cars and the 60's. I invited him to a sailboat race and he gave it his all, in cowboy boots and jeans. Once was enough for him to retire from that. He was a great father to my nephews and nieces and survived 40 years with my baby sis. Fair winds and following seas Bill, see you upstairs!
