Alexander Storer Obituary

Alexander Storer, Jr. MD passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2021. He was born on April 9, 1919 in Pitman, New Jersey to his parents Alexander and Helen (Stanger). He graduated from the University of Alabama and from Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia. Dr. Storer served in the army as a physician where he met his wife Dorothy Jean (Johnson) who worked as a dietician. They married on September 9, 1945. Collingswood, New Jersey became their home and where he started his general medical practice. For nearly forty years Dr. Storer practiced medicine, treating his patients with loving care and kindness and making house calls until his retirement in 1984. An avid golfer, Lex was a member at Riverton, Tavistock and Seaview in New Jersey, Bent Pine in Florida and The Golden Horseshoe in Williamsburg, VA where he and Dorothy ultimately resided. He won numerous club championships and collected a handful of hole in ones. He also loved swimming in the ocean at their home in Ocean City, NJ. He is preceded in death by his parents Alexander and Helen, his wife Dorothy Jean, his daughters Judy and Joan (Sommerville), his sister Isabelle and his brother John. He is survived by his daughter Suzanne Jiganti (John), son-in-law Dave Sommerville, five grandchildren Laura, John, Zach, Max and Kyle and four great grandchildren Derrick, Alex, Leven, Navy and a great grandddaughter due in March. He received excellent care from all of the staff at The Williamsburg Landing during the last years of his life. Private services were held at The Manahath Cemetery in Glassboro, NJ on Saturday, November 13th, 2021.
