Coach Ashnault was a remarkable and memorable person. While he was justifiably recruited to coach basketball at Dickinson College in the `60´s, he was an extraordinary coach and player of baseball. I learned a lot from him and caught him when he´d pitch batting practice. Got to see Coach unexpectedly 25 years later in Williamsburg. He hadn´t changed one bit. Awesome human being. RIP

I remember Mr. Ashnault fondly from my 8th grade history class in Wilton Jr High - in 1962. I´ve been a history buff ever since. Wishing his family the very best, and the knowledge that he had a lasting impact on his students.

My condolences to the family. Ed and family were my next door neighbors when they lived in Carlisle, PA. I will always remember him for his invitation to a family BBQ one summer afternoon in his backyard where he introduced me to his guests, 4 of the greatest Boston Celtics ever! John Havlicek, Tom Sanders, Don Nelson and Larry Sigfreid. I still have the picture of me with Hondo, Satch and Don at our picnic table petting my dog. Thanks Ed . Still am a Celtics fan. Peace to you and your family. Many fond memories on College st.
