WILLIAMSBURG - Elizabeth Norris, 49, of Toano, Virginia passed peacefully on Thursday, July 2nd after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughters, Colby and Dylan, husband David, her mother Debbie Bonacci of Newton, Kansas, brother Michael Bonacci of Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska, and many nieces and nephews. Libby was a graduate of Ft. Calhoun High School and Southeast Missouri State University. Libby worked the past 10 years for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, where she was passionate about improving water quality by working with landowners to install management practices on their properties. Libby was active in many Williamsburg organizations, including the Warhill Athletic Boosters, Warhill and JB Blayton PTAs, and the Starz travel softball board. Libby's passions include being outdoors with family and friends, hunting, fishing, camping, and especially following her daughters' many athletic activities. Libby was preceded in death by her father, Don Bonacci, and brother, James Bonacci. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 7:30-9:30p.m., Friday, July 10th at Legacy Hall, 4301 New Town Ave, Williamsburg. Libby was our family, a wonderful, kind, caring person. She had such a sweet spirit. She was so intelligent, an extremely hard worker. A wonderful Mother and partner to David. We will forever hold her dear in our hearts. I know she is looking down at her loved ones. She is in no more pain. We love you and miss your witty sense of humor and beautiful smile.

Will miss Libby and her great work here in the Valley. She was a wonderful conservation partner and made a huge difference here. Her efforts at connecting Valley farmers with Bay watermen has been the most effective tool I've witnessed to promote understanding and empathy between disparate communities. It has made a difference. I greatly appreciated my time on one of those trips to Tangier Island with her.

I knew Libby through NRCS partnership activities with CBF. She was such a warm and friendly person that you instantly felt like you had known her all your life. She definitely made the world a little brighter and better and it is hard to imagine a world without her in it. Dave, I'm so sorry to hear of Libby's passing. The number of beautiful memorials in this guest book is so fitting, because we all knew what a kind and warm soul Libby was. Someone on Facebook said that they never heard her say a bad word about anyone, and I must agree. She was above all a kind and positive spirit that always made people feel welcomed..

David, Colby and Dylan, I can't tell you how sorry I am for your loss. As a colleague at CBF, and a friend, Libby was a constant inspiration, a dogged fighter, and someone to whom I turned for her specialized knowledge and experience. Her volunteerism was legendary. And she worked for a decade to earn the trust of hundreds of farmers in the Valley -- not easy if you say you're from CBF! I will miss her enthusiasm, her bright spark, her friendship. I know her memory will live strongly and warmly in your hearts.
