John McPhee Obituary

John Roy McPhee, Jr., 86, died Saturday, June 24, 2023, at his home in Florence, South Carolina after a long illness surrounded by his family. Born September 25, 1936, in Williamsport, PA, he was a son of the late John Roy McPhee, Sr. and the late Ernestine Fay McMurtrie McPhee. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1954. He was a US Navy veteran and after a long, distinguished career in aerospace engineering, he retired from Wyle Laboratories in 1992. He was a lover of the Arts, restaurant exploration, cooking, hunting, fishing, NASCAR Cup racing and traveling. He was an avid cruiser. More than anything he loved time spent with his family. He was a member of East Side Christian Church in Florence, SC. Prior to moving to South Carolina, he was a long-term resident of Williamsburg, VA. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Oldham Blakeslee McPhee; three children, Catherine M. Gilson (Douglas) of Florence, SC, John M. McPhee (Carol) of Windsor, SC and James R. McPhee of Florence,SC; four grandsons; a great granddaughter; two bonus children; several bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister, Fay Morrison (Richard) of Cogan Station, Pennsylvania. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. To leave a condolence for the family, please visit www.jamesmaneval.com.
