Patricia Komsa

Patricia Lawler Komsa, 74, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on June 12, 2023. Patricia (Patsy) grew up near Philadelphia, PA and attended Merion Mercy Academy and Pierce College. Patsy worked as a buyer for The Blum Store in Philadelphia and met her husband Paul while he attended Villanova University. Patsy and Paul lived in Lake Mohawk in Sparta, NJ, where they raised their two daughters, and then in Durham, CT and Lake of the Woods in Locust Grove, VA. In Sparta, Patsy ran an in-home childcare business and remained in touch with many of her clients as friends. In her spare time, Patsy taught reading and English as a tutor for Literacy Volunteers of America and sewed for her local Catholic church. In Lake of the Woods, Patsy was Vice President and Treasurer of the Lake of the Woods Garden Club. Over the years, Patsy enjoyed "lake life" and developed many precious friendships everywhere she lived. Diagnosed with dementia in 2016, Patsy persevered through the disease's challenges and hardships, spending her final year in memory care in Williamsburg, VA, with her husband nearby and by her side in her final hours. Patsy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered for her joy, energy, laughter, and helping hand. Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Louise Brophy Lawler and John F. Lawler. She is survived by her husband, Paul Komsa of Williamsburg, VA; daughters, Jennifer Komsa Contrucci and her husband Tim of Lanexa, VA, and Stephanie Komsa of Oakland, CA and Arlington, VA; siblings, John Lawler, Bonnie Keightley, Donald Lawler, and Robert Lawler; and grandchildren, Sophie Contrucci and John Contrucci. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
