Patsy Zuck Obituary

Patsy Arlene (Herrick) Zuck, daughter of E. C. and Nellie (Wylie) Herrick, was born on Feb. 9, 1931 at Massena. She passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Her early life was spent in Exira, where she started school. The family later moved to Shenandoah in 1940. Pat attended the Shenandoah Community Schools graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1949.
On Dec. 31, 1949, Pat was united in marriage to Duane Leon Zuck at the First Christian Church in Shenandoah. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed two miles south of Farragut, Iowa. In 1961 they moved to a farm near Shenandoah. They moved into Shenandoah in 1989, where they lived at 605 South Ave until moving to Council Bluffs in 2009. Their last move brought them to Omaha
Over the years, Pat worked a variety of different jobs utilizing her talents. She worked as a loving mother and housewife and worked at Henry Field's for many years. In 1989 she began working for the State Inspection, Appeals and Tax Revenue Department and Iowa Public Television in Des Moines. She later worked in Creston at the Iowa Department of Transportation and Job Service. She also worked for the State Hospital in Clarinda as a bookkeeper and record keeper. She last worked in Council Bluffs in Revenue and Finance. Pat had excellent office skills from typing to proof reading to adding figures and numbers.
Volunteering was important to Pat, through the years she was active in the Norwich Methodist Church where she was the Youth Fellowship and Choir Director and also church pianist. She was also active in Eastern Star, the First Christian Church, Pairs and Squares square dancing, Rotary, also served as Treasurer and delivered Meals on Wheels, and was President of the Shenandoah Senior Center.
Music was also a big part of Pat's life and she was proud to be a self taught pianist. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, reading, flowers, camping, pets, road trips and vacations.
Preceding Pat in death were her parents and son, Michael Duane Zuck in 1975. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Duane Zuck of Omaha; daughter, Terri Ertzner of Omaha; son, Jerry Zuck of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Chris Foster of Omaha, Michael Zuck of Kansas City, Kan. and Michelle Zuck of Kansas City, Mo.; other relatives and many friends. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered, by all those whose lives she touched.
Memorial Services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home with Pastor Nancy Thomas officiating.
Pat Larson served as organist and Kristi Lambert sang "Nearer My God To Thee" and "How Great Thou Art". Honorary Casket Bearers included Chris Foster, Michael Zuck, Oburn Herrick, and Aubrey Herrick.
Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Shenandoah Senior Center. Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements
