Ben Bearden Obituary

Boerne - Ben Estes Bearden, who peacefully departed this world on September 9, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on December 2, 1928, in Rochester, TX, Ben (to some Papa and others Babe) was an avid outdoorsman, agriculturist, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Ben lived in many areas of the state of Texas as a young man but settled in Santa Rosa and Harlingen areas from 1947 until 1995 where he farmed and grew cotton, grain, vegetables and sugar cane on Valley Acres. Ben spent many years perfecting his growing technique and was honored by the cotton grower magazine as Cotton Grower of the year in 1978. Ben served on many community and business boards and was always eager to help his neighbors in need. Hunting quail with his many trained bird dogs and flying his private plane, were always on his mind.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents Ben Bearden, Etta Brown Bearden and his wife Billie Boyd Bearden, his son David Dan Bearden and grandson Peter Joseph Welty. He is survived by his wife Beth Bearden, his children, son, Steve Bearden(Pat) of La Feria, Daughter Janie Bearden Stratton(Clifford) of Boerne, Grandchildren, Perry Welty(Pam), Peyton Welty(Amy), Cari Bearden(Scott Ismert), Chase Bearden(Bethany), Clifford Stratton Jr.(Tina), Danielle Copeland(Eric) Great-Grandchildren, Ashton Welty, Preston Welty, Paxton Welty, Parker Welty and Hannah Swartzell, Farrah Stratton, Ford Stratton, Logan Stratton and Cash Copeland.

Ben's tireless work ethic and love for agriculture were evident throughout his life, shaping his occupation and character, from which we remember him say often, to work hard and tell the truth. As a man of few words but immense deeds, his legacy will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched.

Visitation and funeral services will take place at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral home in Boerne, Texas on September 21, 2024. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am, with the services following at 11 am, offering friends and the family an opportunity to come together to honor and celebrate Ben's life.

A grave but reverent gathering will be held at the Boerne Cemetery in Boerne, TX, on September 21, 2024, at 12:30 pm, where Ben will be laid to rest in the embrace of the earth he so diligently tended.

In the quiet reflection of this moment, let us remember Ben Estes Bearden for the man he was, a pillar of strength, a steward of the land, and a beacon of unwavering dedication. May his spirit find peace in the fields of eternity, forever watching over those he loved.

I am so sorry for your loss. My husband had bought 100 acres from Mr. Bearden, long time ago. My husband died in 2016 from lung cancer.
