MERCEDES, TX. -- Diana Louise Hoppe Davenport; born June 11, 1922 in Ironwood, Upper Peninsula, Michigan.
She passed away on February 3, 2015 in Houston Texas.
She is pre-deceased by her parents; Matthew Walter Hoppe Sr. and Lydia Marie Maki Hoppe, her husband, Jack Edward Davenport, her sister; Jean Irene Hoppe McClure, her brother; Matthew Walter Hoppe Jr.
In 1936, at the age of 14; she came with her family to Mercedes, Texas after graduating from Mercedes High School in 1938, she took business courses and then moved to Corpus Christi Texas where she worked for Samsco then for CG Glascock, later working as an accountant for Coastal States and later moving to Houston Texas and worked for Anderson Clayton.
While in Corpus Christi, she married John Wilson Murchie in 1943, she later married Jack Edward Davenport in 1962. They lived in Houston Texas and also for some years in Belgium and Singapore. She enjoyed painting; having taken lessons in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico from Mr. Garcia from Mr. Ong in Singapore. The highlight of her life was her grandchildren, traveling in Europe with them, having fun at their bay house in Bacliff, Texas.
She is survived by her sisters; Ruth Marie Hoppe Little of Bastrop, Texas and Shirley Ann Mercedes Ward of Campbell, California, sister-in-law Christine Isabell Roos Hoppe of Bellaire Texas., daughters; Mary Ellen Murchie Mellard of Houston, Texas and Carol Ann Murchie Delaney of Houston, Texas, grandsons; John Darrel Fisher,(Nina Marie Tomzak) Fisher, Geoffrey Karle (Chaska Daye Moore), granddaughter; Allison Diane Mellard (Pascal Leroy Killingsworth Jr.) 5 great-grand-children Christopher, Joseph, Daelynn, Nya and one on the way. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She is and will forever will be Loved and missed by all that knew and loved her
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 8, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Graveside Services will be conducted on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Lutheran Cemetery in Mercedes Texas with Pastor James Edge to officiate.
There will be a Memorial Service held in Houston Texas on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church with the Pastor Wayne Graumann to officiate.
