Emilio Weaver Jr.

1948 - 2018

Lyford - Emilio Weaver, Jr. was born on April 24, 1948 in El Venadito Ranch outside of Los Indios, TX born to Evila Leal and Emilio Weaver, Sr. Emilio went to be with our Lord on Thursday, March 15, 2018. Emilio was a true warrior after fighting a strong and courageous battle against lung and bladder cancer.

Emilio was proud to be a Vietnam Veteran who served with the Americal Division. Upon return from Vietnam, Emilio met the love of his life, Julia Colchado and they spent the next 47 years building a lifetime of memories. Emilio was a true gentleman who was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and provider. Emilio spent his career with Hollywood Marine and later Kirby Inland Marine in Houston as a tugboat captain and loved working his profession although missing his family tremendously. Emilio truly lived his life honoring and loving his wife, children, and grandchildren beyond belief. As much as Emilio loved his family, the only thing that could keep him away from them was deer season. Emilio was an avid deer hunter and loved the camaraderie that the deer lease brought him. Emilio was a lifetime member of the VFW post 6719 and an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lyford.

Emilio is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Ben George and Walter Weaver, and sisters: Emily Cisneros and Mary Helen Stith. Emilio is survived by his loving wife Julia; 5 children: Teresa, Emilio III, Aaron (Vanessa), Adam, and Cathy (Sergio); 8 grandchildren: Caitlin, Gabriel, Martha, Kailey, Lauren, Kale, Noa Olivia, and Riley; brothers: Albert Lee Weaver and Dick Alan Weaver; sisters: Ann Bowers, Marjorie Jackson, Mary Lou Younger, and Mary Alice Hinojosa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be held at Good Shepherd Funeral home on Sunday, March 18 at 7:00PM. A celebration of Emilio's life will be held on Monday, March 19 at 2:00PM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with burial following at Raymondville City Cemetery.

Honored to be pallbearers will be his nephews: Ben George Weaver Jr., Walter Weaver, Agustin Colchado, Josue Colchado, Robert Cisneros, Edward Adrian Sandoval; son-in-law: Sergio Mendietta; and grandson: Gabriel Sanchez. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandson Kale Weaver and nephew Stephen Salinas.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in memory of Emilio Weaver to the American Cancer Society (1200 E Ridge Rd. McAllen, Tx 78503).
