Eric Salinas Obituary
HARLINGEN - Spc. Eric Domingo Salinas, 25, of Houston, Texas was killed in Iraq on August 2, 2007 while on a mission. He was born in Harlingen, Texas on September 9, 1981 and moved to Houston, Texas in 1989. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Eugenio T. DeLeon and his grandmother, Olivia M. Salinas.
He is also the great-grandson of the first pioneers of Primera, Texas, Apolonio and Maria Correra. He is survived by his father, Domingo Salinas of Lyford, Texas, and his mother, Juanita DeLeon and stepfather, Ruben Aguilar of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Cristina M. Sanchez of Houston, Texas, a half brother, Jerry Salinas, and a half sister, Judy Ann Salinas (Perez) of Lyford, Texas; one son, Anthony A. Ramos, and brother/best friend, Oscar Ordonez. Family consists of grandmother, Guadalupe Correa DeLeon of Primera, Texas; uncle, Jesus E. DeLeon and Sally of Harlingen, Texas; aunts, Gracie DeLeon (Rodriguez) of Houston, Texas; Lucy Cazares, Nadia Cazares, and Monica Cazares of Primera, Texas; one nephew, Jose J. Juarez; one niece, Olivia Renee Juarez; also numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitations will be held on Friday, August 10, 2007 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Funeraria Del Angel, Cemeteries, Mausoleums and a Dignity Memorial Provider, 2906 S. Expressway 77/83 Harlingen, Texas 78550.

Not a day goes by that I don't think of you, Rojas, Mowl, and Santos. You were my big brother in 1st platoon. You always had my back, and I tried my best to serve all of the platoon. I remember Eric. The first day he got to Fort Lewis. He was a little timid, but I took him under my wing as my very own soldier, and my brother. We talked a lot about our families and where we came from. I still couldnt believe that Eric was born in Harlingen, just like me. We werent that different. We both loved the Army and loved our family and missed being away from them. I couldnt stop thinking about Eric, and how he was gone from this earth. I still think about him and wish he was right here, on this planet with his family. I wish I could take his place, just so he can live and smile and be with his family. I loved Eric like a little brother. He will always be remembered and will always live in my heart.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.

My deepest condolences to Eric D Salinas family. I met Eric while he was station in WA. I fell in love with him for so many reasons. Still hard to accept the fact that he is gone. But no matter what he'll always be in my heart. Today I attended to his memorial ceremony in Ft. Lewis. It was heart breaking. I miss him so much and i will always love him.

To the family of Eric Salinas, first of all, may the Lord our God be with you all, Eric's mother, father, Eric's four year old son and others. I didn't know Eric, I just heard about him in the news when he was killed and brought back home to the Rio Grande Valley and be buried in La Feria. However, I also have one son Eric's age. That's why I feel so much emotion. I cannot comprehend what the whole family is going through. Forever, you all will feel pain, senseless loss beyond comprehenion and missing Eric. I am sure you have many pictures of Eric. I am a photographer and I have captured many faces of loved ones and that's how I remember them all. Always remember Eric for his smiles, for that's how he will remember you and the entrie family until we all will see him again. My sincere condolences. I loved Eric even though we broke up years ago we never stopped loving each other the last time I saw him was June 2006 and I told him "please don't go" I had a feeling he was not comming back but he loved what he did, and once he had is mind set on doing something it was good as done.He will always be in my heart and mind.I love you Eric and I still have a little peice of you closer than you think.

This past year had been tremendously difficult in my life and Eric knew this. While he was deployed he continuously encouraged me by phone calls, letters, and emails telling me to keep my chin up, to have trust and faith in God, that everything would be ok. On Wednesday, I went to see his mom and she said she had something for me from Eric. I didn’t know what to say. It was a bible which I desperately needed during my trial. I knew then Eric was still looking after me, still telling me to have faith. What that meant at that moment will for all time remain in my heart. I will miss you Eric.
To his family on Psalm 55:22, the bible says "Cast your burden on the Lord and He shall sustain you". Eric would agree. My condolences to his family.

Rest in peace Eric....even though I knew you when I was younger you still seemed like a brother to me. Whenever I used to go to work with my mom it was fun seeing you because you always made me laugh.You will be missed but you are in a better place now.Thank you for everything you did for our country.We will miss you.Thank you for being a friend and like a brother and always making me laugh even when I didnt want to.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
