Lloyd Howard Obituary

Lloyd G. Howard Galesburg Lloyd G. Howard, 79, of Galesburg died Thursday morning, January 8, 2009. He was born in Bay City, Michigan on July 8, 1929 the son of George F. and Ann (Sage) Howard and graduated from Lakeview High School. Lloyd served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1948 1952. He retired from General Motors in 1964 and then served in the Incentive Therapy Program at the VA Hospital for more than 30 years. Lloyd is survived by his niece, Pam S. (Sam) Gamboa of Arizona; 2 nephews, Mark A. (Beth) Stephenson of Flint, Michigan and Brant C. (Sue) Stephenson of Arizona. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Betty (Orville) Stephenson, Marian Freeland and a step-brother, Frank MacIntosh. Lloyd was a member of the 20th Street Church of Christ and the American Legion Post #54. He enjoyed the many hours he volunteered at the VA Hospital. A visitation will be held 2:00 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate Lloyd's life will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 20th Street Church of Christ or the charity of one's choice. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
