Rebeca Garcia Obituary
HARLINGEN, TX- Rebeca Garcia, 34, a lifetime resident of Harlingen passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
She is survived by her loving family; Parents; Albert & Guadalupe ``Lupita'' Garcia of Harlingen, Son; Shelton Matthew Garcia of Harlingen, 3 Brothers; Luis Garcia of Reno, Nevada, Eustacio (Kathy) Garcia of El Paso, Ricardo (Julie) Garcia of Harlingen, Great-grandmother; Juana Lopez of Mexico & Numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
She is preceded in death by her brother; Albert Garcia.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. tonight.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 20, 2009. We will depart Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. mass at Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Interment will then follow at Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Luis Garcia, Eustacio Garcia, Ricardo Garcia, Shelton Matthew Garcia, Martin Davila & Gerardo Barajas.
The Garcia family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the 4th Floor & ICU Staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center for their caring and attentive mannerisms. Also to Doctor Sansui & Dr. Dougherty for the care they gave Rebeca during her illness.
Although Rebeca had her struggles during her illness, she never lost her spunk to move forward and live life to its fullest.
She is and will forever be loved and missed by all those who knew her.

My Dearest Comardre Lupe & Compadre Beto,
I was out of town and received the news that my Angel Becky had gone back to haven.
In this difficult time I am thinking of so many memories that will last forever. I can just close my eyes and see her beauty in her smile, her long black hair, I knew she came from haven. When my daughter and sons all played together it was a sight. Baseball, Elementary School events we did it all. She sent me a card and asked me why does time change? I wish that we could all be together again it was so much fun. I had the opportunity to have lunch with her and I still saw the happy little girl despite of all the things she had gone through with her health. The picture that you have in your wall of her wearing that beautiful white dress will always comfort me. You received an Angel, Becky and now she has returned to join Albert in haven. When we lose a loved one our memories of time spent with them become even more precious. We are sending you thoughts of love and support.

To my second family the Garcia's I have so much to say, but not enough words to begin to describe losing Becky. Becky was my sister, we always said that to each other over the last 23years of friendship. Becky I feel so Blessed that you are my son's Godmother, like you said "Nina Becky". I chose you because you were the true epitome of what our Lord Jesus' expression of patience and Love is. Not once did I ever hear you complain thru your illness. I could see in you what so many I know saw, Jesus's love and grace flowing through you. I love you my sister and I miss you so much. Thank you God for this life and for letting me be a part of the Garcia family. I know you are resting now and are watching over us. Until we meet again Rebeca. I met Rebeca when she was 14-15 years old, and full of life, not only was she a bright young lady, & loved life..She loved rooting for her brother playing basketball..She is now with her brother Albert, and looking over her family. My sincerest condolences... I just found about Becky from Marisa and Melissa Martinez. I am in disbelief. I went to college with her in Kingsville and met her there. I remember her just being so much fun and would instantly lighten up a room. One of our favorite pastimes was eating domino's pizza and telling ghost stories. Wow... This is truly a loss....

To the Garcia Family, my prayers are with you. I got the chance to meet Becky, along time ago. Becky was a good friend of my sisters, "Olga and Ester Sanchez". I knew about Becky through my sisters. "Becky is a fighter", is what my sister Olga would say. Needless to say, she now joins my sister Olga, who passed on Aug.15, 2008. May God keep them both in his holy garden.

As I sit here reading Becky's Guest Book, I realize what I knew all along: SHE truly was an exceptional human being! I did not meet Becky at her prime (as probably the majority of you out there did). I got to meet Becky on a hospital bed requesting that I "please shut-off the lights" as she squinted her eyes. See, I provided care for Becky (as her nurse) on countless occasions while she'd be hospitalized. There, I also got to meet part of her family: her mom, her dad, and one of her brothers. She always had that family support that she needed! I remember she wasn't very fond of "hospital food" and her parents usually would bring her a little something from home just so she would not go without eating. It was that kind of love and care that her family always devoted to Becky or "Beca" -- like her mom often called her.
In spite of the relatively short period of time I got to know Becky, I feel priviliged to have met her and been a part of her life - even if in a small way.
To the Garcia Family and Friends:
Please accept my deepest and most sincere condolences. Becky will be greatly missed.

Mr. and Mrs. Garcia and family,I am so sorry to hear about Becky. Please except my deepest sympathy and condolences to your family. Becky is such a beautiful person inside and out and always had a smile on her face no matter the circumstances she was in. I will always remember how happy she was when she got to go to the NBA Allstar game, in Houston, when we were in HS. I had never seen anyone so excited as she was. I don't know why that will always be my most favorite memory of her. I guess it was just her excitement and the smile she displayed from ear to ear for weeks! Now, she and Albert are together again, young, beautiful, and happy in Heaven.
The memories are always so good and i am glad we will be able to keep her in your hearts forever through such wonderful times everyone had the privlage to share with her. God Bless you all.

I remember Becky growing up bc you guys lived behind my street- and even though she was a year older - Her and albert still played with all the neighbor kids-
