Richard Robbins Obituary

Dr. Richard C.
Robbins D.D. S.
RAYMONDVILLE, TX.-
Dr. Richard C. Robbins, D.D.S., of Raymondville, Texas, passed away August 26, 2009.
A private service will be held in Port Mansfield, Texas on September 12, 2009 during which time his ashes will be spread, as he requested, in a specific area where he spent a lot of time fishing with his father and son.Dr. Robbins was born in Raymondville, Texas on September 2, 1934 to John Lawrence Robbins and Jerry Calvin Robbins. He graduated from Texas A&I University at Kingsville in 1956 and from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston in 1960. He proudly served in the United States Air Force Dental Corps from 1960-1964 at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.
He loved his family, hunting, fishing, and his work. He once stated that he never thought of being a dentist as a job, because when he was working he felt like a kid playing with paper airplanes. Some of his patients knew him as the dentist with, "hands of an angel," for his gentle manner.
Dr. Robbins is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Enriqueta Robbins and sister-in-law Bibiana Sandoval who helped care for him; daughters Amy Robbins Bennett, Nan Carol Robbins, Kara Alexandra Robbins, and son, Jerry Calvin Robbins; sister Kathryn J. Robbins; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Lawrence Robbins, Jr. and sister, Frances Taylor Holmes.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Trinity at Harrison Funeral Home, 1002 E. Harrison, Harlingen, TX, 956-364-2444.

I was very saddened to hear about Dick's passing. I always liked Dick: he was kind, compassionate and generous. And he loved life, despite the fact that his poor health made it difficult for him.

Queta, please forgive me but I would prefer not to attend the funeral service (Lorin will be there). Nathan and I would like to visit you a few months after the service, when it would be less chaotic. Also, I would like to place a headstone at the cemetery in Riviera to honor Dick, as we did a few years ago for Taylor.

May God be with you Queta and Kara, and the rest of the Robbins family.

God bless Dick's remaining family. I still miss my old friend, Fran, after all these years. Can't believe the stuff we put Dick through when we were teen ageers....

I am in Silsbee visiting my sister, Janell. Mary Rhodes e mailed us about the passing of Dick. So sorry to hear this. I wish I could get back in time to attend the service. With no family living in Raymondville I don't get down there any more. Dick and you are very special to me. May God be with you and care for you.

Amy & family, So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I have many fond memories of him. Although a teenager, he was the first dentist I ever saw. He put me right at ease, always being kind and gentle. He was very good to me and treated me like part of your family as I was around so much of the time. Most of all I remember him for his sense of humor and his great smile! May you find peace and comfort in your own memories and remember he is with you always!

It has been years since I saw Uncle Dick but I have very fond memories of visiting in his home and playing with my cousins. I still have fillings in my mouth that he put there 40 years ago. May he rest in peace.
