Rodolfo Charles

Harlingen - Rodolfo "Rudy" Charles, 76, peacefully entered eternal rest on October 25, 2024, at Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Harlingen, Texas on March 28, 1948, to parents Lino and Augustina Charles.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosalinda Charles; parents, Lino and Augustina Charles; and siblings, Braulio, Gilberto, George, Rosie, Gracie, Alicia, and Julio.

Rudy was a lifetime resident of Harlingen, Texas. He faithfully served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from service, he married the love of his life, Rosie Torres, and together they cherished 49 years of marriage prior to her passing last year. He devoted his time to our community as a firefighter with the Harlingen Fire Department and retired after 20 years of service. After his retirement, he went on to work as a guard at Bayview Detention Center. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend and he will be remembered dearly for his kindness and generosity.

He leaves behind his two sons, Steve (Angie Guiter) Charles and Michael (Andrea Leal) Charles; two grandsons, Steven Charles and Andrew Charles; and siblings Lino Jr., Mary, Frances, Felicitas, Yolanda, and Mary Ester. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Visitation will take place at Trinity Funeral Home in Harlingen, Texas on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary being conducted by Bea Lopez at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place the following day, Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Trinity Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas.
