Roy Lofstrom Obituary
Brownsville, Texas - Roy Lofstrom, 85, passed away on February 21, 2023 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. Roy, the son of Ben and Signe Lofstrom, was born in Chicago, Illinois on August, 2 1937.
Beloved husband of 47 years to Shirley Anne Lofstrom; loving father of daughters Deanna Bode, Krista Schulte, Cindy Hagan and Shawna Boyce and son Robert Hookman; cherished grandfather of Michael and Julie Hookman and Jessica Isca; Lauren and Dillon Bode, Sydney and Alex Schulte, Hillary and Sarah Hagan; Brooke and Raeya Boyce; great grandfather of Blake and Lucas Isca; Mackenzie and Graysen Bode; Jake Rangel; dear brother of Bill Lofstrom and his daughter Linda Kozlowski; caring brother-in-law, father-in-law, and uncle to many. He was proceeded in death by his loving parents Ben and Signe, beautiful wife Shirley, brother Bill and grandson Michael Hookman.
Roy and Shirley met at the University of Houston. Roy always said, "She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I fell in love with her the moment we met." They were married in 1960 in Chicago, Illinois where they lived for many years and eventually moved to Los Fresnos, Texas in 1974.
Roy completed his schooling at the Illinois Institute of Technology. From there he had an exciting career in law enforcement. He started as a police officer in Evanston, Illinois. In 1974, he began working for the United States Department of Justice as a Special Agent.
Roy was kind, smart, funny, loved his adoring family and his many cats. He enjoyed speaking to his daughters daily and hearing about the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was most known for his love of storytelling, sharing daily news facts and his witty sense of humor. He delighted in reminiscing about his youth, his childhood time in Sweden, and his career in law enforcement. He traveled often to see his family and loved participating in activities with his grandchildren including games and drawing/painting competitions. He was highly competitive and always enjoyed bragging about his wins. He loved to walk, swim, read on the beach and took joy in the beauty of life.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His strength, courage, attitude, humor and his childlike wonder will be remembered forever.
