Wenceslao Galvan Jr.

1946 - 2018

Harlingen - Wenceslao Galvan, Jr., age 72, was called to be with the Lord Thursday October 25, 2018. He went peacefully at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Harlingen born January 7, 1946 in Combes, TX to the late Mr. & Mrs. Wenceslao and Marcela G. Galvan Sr. Wenceslao married the love of his life, Sylvia Rodriguez August 31 1965. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a rifle marksman and was very proud to have received the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star having served two tours and was honorably discharged.

He leaves behind to cherish his wonderful memory his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Sylvia R. Galvan, children, Wenceslao (Lalo) Galvan (Diana), Georgina (Gina) Galvan, Ray Galvan (Vanessa) and John Galvan. Eleven grandchildren, Alleyne, Steven, Cassandra, Allison, Taylor, Sarah, Zachary, Emily, Kayla, Laurelle and Ray Jr.; three great grandchildren, Addison, Andy and James, two brothers and three sisters, Consuelo "Connie" Candanoza (Marcos), Petra Galvan (Joe), Arnoldo Galvan, Israel Galvan (Colleen), Corina Victorio (Anselmo), sister in law, Nelda Galvan. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Fabian Galvan (Diana), Marcelino Galvan and a sister, Esperanza Fernandez.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 29, 2018 from 1 pm to 9 pm with a prayer of the Holy Rosary Service to begin at 7 pm Monday evening. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at 11 am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Brian as celebrant. Interment will follow to Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, Mission with full military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 205.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Wenceslao (Lalo) Galvan, John Galvan, Ray D. Galvan, Mark Candanoza, Ruben Rodriguez, Chris Galvan, Steven Ray Galvan, Zachary Galvan and Mike Guzman as honorary pallbearer.
