Kenneth J. Worley, 77, passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2018 while under the care of Tidewell Hospice in Englewood. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Jannary 31st, 1941 and was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Laverne Worley, son Steven T. Worley and sister Barbara A. Stockhaus. Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Gail, son Scott (Annette), daughter Stacey (Jeffrey), daughter Shelley, sister Bernice Work (Thomas), brother William Worley (Gayle), brother-in-law Norman Stockhaus, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Ken proudly served as an airman in the United States Air Force from 1961-65 at Hickam Air Force Base, where he worked on C130 transport planes. While in Hawaii, he met and married his loving wife, Gail, and they recently celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary. Upon discharge from the service, Ken learned the meat cutting trade from his father-in-law and went on to own his own IGA grocery store in Troy, NH.

Ken and family relocated to Rotonda West, FL in 1974, where he later began his long tenure with Charlotte County Public Schools, most recently as Head Custodian at Lemon Bay High School. Ken had a heart of gold and touched so many lives within both the school system and Englewood community. Ken's love was his family but his passion was all things Christmas - from his extensive collection of Danbury Mint gold Christmas tree ornaments to his brightly decorated home to his genuine portrayal of Santa Claus throughout the Christmas season.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grove City on Friday, February 9th, at 10 a.m. The family welcomes all to join them in a celebration of Ken's life at a reception immediately after mass in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lemon Bay High School general scholarship fund in Ken's name.
