(aka Dr. David Nur Engle, DC)
March 3, 1963 - Jan. 6, 2009
Peacefully passed from an illness. He had family and friends lovingly at his side. He was born at home to Robert E. Fraley and Jalelah Fraley (aka Qahira Qalbi), on “Fraley Lane” in Camarillo Heights as part of a loving Sufi family.
He enjoyed a lifelong friendship and bond with his five brothers and sisters, Dean (Daunne) Fraley, Eric (Beth) Fraley, Daryl (Lisa) Fraley, Tana (Nathan) Johnson, Leila (Todd) Tackett. Other joys include 20 nieces and nephews, one grandniece and two grandnephews.
In his early years, Alan enjoyed surfing, raising golden retriever dogs, his classic blue convertible Karman Ghia and custom blue VW Baja bug. A graduate of Camarillo High School, he received his AA degree at Moorpark College and went on to Cleveland Chiropractic College in L.A. He moved to Australia to intern at a Natural Hygiene Center for six months then relocated to Santa Rosa, Calif., to work at The Center for Conservative Therapy for six years. At this point, he honored his grandfather’s memory by changing his name to David Nur Engle. He then moved to Sebastopol, Calif., where he began his chiropractic practice, motherwave work practitioner counseling and self compassion workshops. In 2005, he began an independent company as a XanGo distributor. He was loved by his Northern California community for over a decade.
His family wishes to thank all those who donated time, finances and extended prayers throughout David’s treatments.
A small private memorial will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at 2 p.m., at his sister’s house.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to http://www.davidenglehealthfund.com to help cover medical expenses incurred. Any funds left over will be joyfully donated to David’s favorite charity, http://www.operationkids.com.

My Deepest Condolences to You and Your Family. Alan was a very kind and humorous classmate when we attended Cleveland Chiropractic College of LA from January 1987 to April 1990. I am sure he is looking down at all of us from the heavens above.

Alan was so much fun. I remember him in ACHS playing frisbee on the upper lawn. His beautiful long blonde hair and that under the leg frisbee grab, all he had to do was smile, that's how I met him. He was adventurous and loved to hike and go to the beach. I remember him losing his surfboard on Ventura Hwy we couldn't wait to get to those waves, the frisbee games, jumping of the pier, boogie boarding and all along Bob the surfing dog right beside him. He had a love for animals and his dog's especially. I remember Shasta, Crougeran, Sunshine, and Barney last but certainly not least Bob dog. Bob and his siblings as puppies were handfulls. I remember Alan taking them to the beach it was a cloudy day but beautiful just the same. Another coulple was there having a picnic with a fresh bucket of KFC. They didn't have a chance. Dogs 10 couple 0. He was so gracious and kind. I also remember Alan was very serious about his studies first at Moorpark and then Cleveland Chiropractic all the while climbing trees and working for Bills Tree Services. He even had fun doing that, his job, school, beach, surfing, hiking, laughing, working on his cars, tending to Babtcha's garden who would slip him a $20 every now and then. He certainly knew how to live. He loved to offroad down at Callagus or Pismo Beach with Dean and Dawn. They had a sand rail that he could drive like nobody else. I was so entrhalled with him. And always with that smile. I'm amazed at how many memories I have of Alan not to mention the concerts. The Greatful Dead at Ventura Co. Fair Grounds. All in Tom Ogden's US BUS. :) We almost didn't make that concert. But made it we did. The Us Festival in San Bernadino. Wow was that fun. I'll miss Alan David Fraley. I'll miss running in to him and just seeing his smile. I'm so sorry for his family and my thoughts are with you. Your friend always, Yvonne

I was so sad to hear of Alans' passing. My prayers and condolences go to the Fraley family. Had not seen him for many years, but could get caught up on him through family. Memories go all the way back to 8th grade at Bedford Open, and on through high school and fun times at Oil Piers. God has another beautiful angel at his side.

I am so sorry to hear of Alan's passing; I, like so many others, remember him hangin' at the house, at the beach, or cruising in his car. I remember him and Yvonne, also. He was such a happy, gentle, and thoughtful person, and he will be greatly missed. Love to you, Beth and Eric, and the whole Fraley and Burris families.

My sympathies and prayers go out to the Fraley family during this difficult time. I'm so blessed to have known David through my most cherished friend Leila. I remember David most, during the time he was attending chiropractic school and was the recipient of a couple free adjustments. David was such a giving person with a very loving touch. This world's loss is heaven's gain.

I can't believe how much time has passed since I met the entire Fraley family. Allen was probably about 11 or 12 years old and he was a skinny little blonde haired boy, cute as could be. I couldn't believe it when Duane recently told me that he was sick. When I learned of his passing I was greatly saddened. I know what a close family you are and my prayers and thoughts are with all of you at this time. I know that Allen will stay in the hearts of everyone he touched. God is with you during this difficult time and always. Sandi

Uncle Alan David,
I remember when I was a little girl at your brother Dean's home, & you were able to lift yourself up on the bar between the frames of the door, ever since then I have always wanted one :)
And that time you were staying there & they had this cool water bed & all of us kids liked sitting on it, so cool!
Also in 2005 you invited me to go to a xango convention in Utah, & again with my family to vegas in may 2006,
Both times were fun, esp in '05 when I got to spend more time getting to know you.
On thanksgiving this year we all got to visit you in the hospital. I thank God that He gave me a peaceful, happy deamenor, even though it was a beginning of a sad time to see you like this, I'm blessed to have shared our most favorite memories & say what we are thankful for.
I didn't see you again until Monday (January 5) early afternoon, and to see you like that was upsetting but then not, in a weird way.
I got to hold your hand, & when our eyes met you smiled & your eyes lit up which made me happy to know you were happy I came to visit you. I shared my love for you & before I left I said I'd see you in the morning but somehow I had a feeling I probally wouldn't. I'm so happy I shared with you a new joy I have growning inside me, & how you smiled & your eyes lit up again & how happy you showed you were for me when I told you. I'm so happy you're in a better place, heaven was made for those who believe in Jesus & accept His free gift of salvation & I believe you did. You are with Grandpa, & my great Aunt, singing praises to God! How cool, in a sense I'm a little jealous.
Uncle David you are loved by me & numerous people but you already knew that, I can't wait to see you when it's my time, until then we will share the Love we know comes from God & love others more than ourselves!
May God bless all those who knew David!

I remember Alan Fraley very well. Alan was my daughter, Yvonne (Cameron) first love. I remember Alan bringing over his golden retriever puppies and playing in the yard. Alan was always very respectful and honorable. I remember seeing him graduate at the Cleveland Chiropractic School and until about two years ago went to meet him with his other Zango friends in Las Vegas. Alan will always be in my heart. I was so sad to hear of Alan's illness and death. He will be greatly missed. Alan was so full of life to have passed on at a young age. God Bless the Fraley family. Love Always

My dearest Fraleys, Family & Friends,
I met Alan when I was 7 through his little sisters Leila & Tana, our most wonderful friends. He was 14 at the time and like all Fraley boys, he was very handsome! His eyes sparkled with a passion for life, and his smile...well, as you all know, his smile lit you up from the inside out!
We always had a wonderful time together, at the beach, in the mountains skiing, or just hangin' out laughing and loving on Fraley Lane.
Heaven is rejoicing as another beautiful child of God comes home.
I can only imagine the warm embrace of your Dad and Lisa that he is joyfully in the midst of.
Blessings for Peace, Love & Harmony on the journey ahead.
Love you all, Lorraine Brubaker (Barker)

I loved the way David loved that I laughed at his Dad's jokes. I loved all the ways that David was like his Dad. I loved the way David was his own man. I loved the way David was so powerfully clear about his desire that all children be loved. I loved the way David loved music, and the ocean, and his little home, and keeping things clean and beautiful, and going barefoot, and good health, and going deep, and confronting our shadows, and his cats, and his friends, and his men's group, and his family, and his business associates, and his community. I love the way my eyes fill with tears when I think about him but my mouth insists on a smile.

Allen (David),
We will all miss you very much, your constant smile and easy going ways.
I remember well first meeting you (and the rest of the Fraley family) in 1975-76 (way back in our youth!)You stayed the same loving and caring person through all the years. Even your chosen profession was helping and healing others.
Everyone will miss you greatly, but we know you are at peace and with your dad.
My heartfelt sympathy to all the Fraley family, (who is also my extended family through my sister Daunne).
God Bless, Farryn (Christie) Melton

Alan was a student in my kindergarten class. I remember a little boy who was a fine student and had many friends. The same warm smile of the little boy in his kindergarten class picture is evident in the photo of him as an adult as seen in the obituary. With deepest sympathy and love to the Fraley family.
