Captain Al E. Walker, US Army, Retired, passed away on July 11, 2009. Services and burial will be at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, Camarillo, CA on Friday, July 17 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Islands.
Al was married to his beloved wife Betty Mae for 57 years and who preceded him in death in 2004. Their dear friend for over 60 years, Mrs. Fred J. Dorward, has been helping him, along with her daughters, Al and Bettys godchildren, Sharon Andrews (husband Bob) and Denise Clynes (husband Mike).
Al was a native Californian born in La Verne on January 24, 1914 and has lived the past 33 years in Camarillo. From 1933-1934 he served with the Civil Conservation Corps. He was in the US Army Corps of Engineers and was a decorated WWII combat veteran in the European theater. He served with the 1265th Engineer Combat Battalion as a Staff Officer of Operations and Training and commanded a Combat Engineer Unit. Al worked as a District Sales Manager for Lincoln Engineering from 1945 until his retirement in 1976. Upon moving to Camarillo he became active in the LV Mens Golf Club and was a card-carrying member of the American Legion for over 60 years. When he moved to Camarillo, he was active in Post 741. Al and Betty were also members of the Retired Officers and Wives Club.
The Dorward family is very grateful for the loving care accorded Al at Malis Residential Care Facility.

Al & Betty were wonderful friends & neighbors for about 10 years. I have missed their smiling faces these past few years & am so sorry I was unable to attend his services.
