Beverly Jane Buss crossed her final finish line in Camarillo, California, on August 31, 2013. She was born November 1, 1960 in Burlington, Wisconsin, to Adele S. Buss and the late Bernard M. Buss.
Her childhood was spent in Aurora, Illinois; her adulthood near Los Angeles. She graduated from Aurora (IL) East High, Pasadena (CA) City College, and University of La Verne (CA).Affectionately known as TFO (The Fast/Fun One), Bev was a natural athlete who loved running marathons, cycling, travelling, volunteering, and making people laugh. From September 3rd:
She was beautiful. Tall and thin with a lovely, friendly smile. A 'Ragnar 2012' window decal on her gold Toyota reflects her athleticism. Her two bikes, road and mountain, were quite precious to her. Never outside on a rack, but inside her car if ever being taken somewhere. That was a rarity, as they were most often powered by her long legs. When I had the pleasure of seeing her, an athletic outfit was most often her style. Our cars, silver and gold, sit next to each other even now. Her music played loud whenever that Toyota was running. She ran too. The Olympic trials for the marathon in 2000 included herself at the age of 39. At the age of 52, she was full of life. Alas, it is no more. My neighbor Beverly Buss, whom I regret not getting to know, died on Saturday. Her friends Mark and Kathy had texted her that morning. After not showing for the 50 mile bike ride, Mark let himself into her apartment with the key she had given him. They met about 4 years ago through rides organized by Bill's Bike Shop in Camarillo, which Mark owns. He had been trying to help her, as friends do. As his parents are still alive, she is the first person close to him that he has lost. He cried for hours as I sat next to him, an absolute stranger, on that hot night. Beverly Buss - accountant, incredible athlete, sister, and daughter. Goodbye princess, goobye.

Dear Adele and family, It isn't right that many of her classmates were having a reunion while your family was having another funeral. Bev and I had the bond of November birthdays, we couldn't wait to turn a year older and "catch up" with the others. I have always thought of her each Nov 1, even after all of these years. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My most vivid memory of Beverly was my first Christmas in Camarillo 4 years ago: one Wednesday night 3 of us drove to Oxnard, put the top down on my little Toyota Celica and cruisted up and down the streets looking at Christmas lights with Mannheim Steamroller music blasting! It was such a joyful experience. I will never listen to that music again without missing her. She was a beautiful human being. What a loss to the world.

With my heart felt sympathy from across the miles in the UK. Although I only knew Bev for a short period of time whilst working together at Miod in LA - she was a warm and beautiful lady and will be sadly missed.
