C.K. Yang, 73, passed away Jan. 27, 2007, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Woodland Hills of complications from a recent stroke.
Mr. Yang was born July 10, 1933. He was the first athlete to win an Olympic medal for his native country, Taiwan, after a drama-filled duel with University of California, Los Angeles, teammate and eventual gold medal winner Rafer Johnson at the 1960 games in Rome.
Mr. Yang is survived by his wife, Daisy Yang; sons, Cedric Yang and C.K. Yang Jr.; daughter-in-law, Ranee Yang; and granddaughters, Megan Yang, Madison Yang and Carmen Yang.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
Donations can be made in memory of his nephew Jue Lam Fund, to Ventura High School, c/o Ventura Educational Partnership, 255 W. Stanley Ave., Ventura, CA 93001.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
