Carol Dawn Epling, 71, passed away Oct. 11, 2011, with her loving family by her side.
Carol was born Dec. 28, 1939, in Grand Rapids, Mich., and moved to California as a teenager. She worked extensively in electronics and later married a Navy man. They had two daughters and lived in many places over the years. In 1979 they settled in Santa Paula. Carol loved its small town charm and never left. Carol truly had the "gift of gab" and loved getting together with friends over coffee. She was known for her sharp wit and soft heart. More than anything, she loved being with her family. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Carol is survived by her brother, Bart May and sister-in-law Lisa; brother-in-law, Joe Peterson; daughter, Cammy Benner and son-in-law John; daughter, Becky Sebesta; grandson, Eric and granddaughter, Raelene; grandsons, Nick, Jacob and Joel; great-grandsons, Petey, Angel and Eric Jr.; as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be missed for her big heart and unconditional love. Most of all, we will miss how she made us laugh.
We will be forever grateful to the staff at Vista Cove Care Center who took such special care of her this last year.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Stetler Mortuary, 128 South 8th St., Santa Paula.

I took care of Carol only for a short time, and in that short time i spent with her we become close friends. She was such a sweet and caring person. Sometimes I would take my kids over and spend a little time with her, she loved it. There were some nights we would go over to her house and have a movie night, with popcorn and maybe sometimes a little sweet treat. She really enjoyed those nights and We did too. I would forever miss her, She will always be in my heart.
