Christopher Erich Lukens Sr., 61, formerly of Ojai, was called home to be with the Lord on Feb. 14, 2010 in San Diego.
Chris is preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Lukens. Chris is survived by his wife of 37 years Beatriz Lukens; son and daughter-in-law, Chris (Erich) and Ann Lukens of Santa Paula; daughter and son-in-law, Adriana and Garrett Holt of Mission Viejo; sisters, Harriett Tracey and Vickie McMillen; grandchildren, Quinn Grace Lukens, Jacob and Lukas Holt and numerous nieces and nephews.
Chris was born in San Francisco on July 1, 1948 and was raised in Bakersfield. In 1969 Chris enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an ordinanceman and served during the Vietnam War. Chris enjoyed being involved in the community as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, Jail Ministry and weekly Bible Fellowship. Chris cherished moments with his family and grandchildren. He will be missed and remembered as a friend, a father and Grandpa.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, 620 Oregon St., Bakersfield for Christopher Lukens, Sr. Military Honors will be held at Union Cemetery following the service and interment will follow.

I grew up with Chris and his sisters. He was one of the nicest people I ever knew. All of us walked home from school together. I am very sorry for your loss.
